KIEV, April 7 (Itar-Tass) -- Ukraine is expecting the strongest spring flood of the past 20 years in 2006, Hydro-Meteorological Committee head Nikolai Kulbida said.
The water in the Dnieper River may raise by seven meters, and the flood of the Pripyat River near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant will also be large, he said. The Pripyat may flood territories polluted with radionuclides, he said.
The water in the Desna River may go up by 4.3-5.3 meters and flood some areas of Kiev, he said.
Experts say that the flood will start in late April – early May.
Huh? The Pripyat may flood territories polluted with radionuclides??
It seems our visionary mr. Кульбида has seen more: will there be less snow, or is the heat leaving Ukraine? We'll see...
